Evelyn Effie Plumley Howard, 72, passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2009, at her home. Born in Greenville County, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Joe Earl and Vernie Lee Howard Plumley. Mrs. Howard worked for Stone Manufacturing and retired from Curtron Manufacturing and was a member of Cherry Hill Baptist Church. Surviving are five daughters, Janice H. (Leroy) Sanders of Travelers Rest and Ola Mae (Lance) Footer of Taylors, Carolyn (Andy) Roberts and Brenda Brown, both of Pelzer and Faye (David) Watkins of Cleveland, Texas; four sons, Rufus James Howard, Jr. of Landrum, Todd (Angie) Howard of Taylors, David (Sharon) Plumley of Pelzer and Steve (Kathy) Cannon of Greer; three sisters, Ellen Mae Plumley, Myrtle Slatton and Linda Howard, all of Taylors; two brothers, Jack Plumley of Landrum and John (Teresa) Plumley of Taylors; 16 grandchildren, Jennifer, Stuart, Michelle, Jason, Angie, Brandy, David Jr., Wade, Aaron, Christy, Paul, Steven, Dakota, Breanna, Austin and Tyler; and 18 great-grandchildren, Noah, David, Erica, Aaron, Noah, Porter, Austin, Taylor, Mark, Elijah, Jaciah, Majael, Evan, Ryan, Ethan, Harley, Emma and Preston. She was predeceased by her husband, Rufus James Howard, Sr.; three sons, Lewis Mitchell Howard, Billy Joe Cannon and Robert Howard; sister, Ludith Ramsey; and great-grandson, Johnathan Willis. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon at Cherry Hill Baptist Church with burial to follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at The Howze Mortuary. The family will be at the home.
