In 1881, in the year that Fannie Nedbalek was born, on May 21st, Clara Barton, a nurse, founded the American Red Cross. She was inspired by the Red Cross in Geneva Switzerland and the International Red Cross.
Did you know?
In 1945, by the time she was 64 years old, on April 12th, President Franklin D. Roosevelt died of a cerebral hemorrhage in Warm Springs, Georgia. At 1p, he was sitting for a portrait when he complained that he had a "terrific pain" in the back of his head and collapsed. A doctor was summoned and the doctor gave him a shot of adrenaline into his heart. It didn't help and he was pronounced dead at 3:30 p.m. A slow moving train took him back to Washington D.C. while thousands of mourners lined the tracks. He was buried at his home in Hyde Park, New York.
