    Felix Freiheiter was born on Sep 24, 1923 in Vienna, Austria to parents Meyer Freiheiter (born 1888) and Ernestine Silbiger (born 1889). He had a sister named Stella Freiheiter (born 1889). He lived in Austria until about 1940, when he immigrated to the United States and arrived in New York, New York. He lived in Brooklyn, Kings, New York and graduated from the City College of New York as well as New York University. He was a fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. Felix married Beatrice Dolgenas (1928-2020) in 1957 and had sons Michael and John. He worked as a chemical engineer at Hoffman La Roche for 30 years and retired in 1988 as the director of technical administration.
