Florence Vivian (Preston) Crane-Baugher of Hermitage, Hickory County, Missouri United States was born in January 1920 at Pasadena, Ca to Chauncey Preston and Lillie (Lilves) Preston. Florence Crane-Baugher had siblings Jack N Preston, Ronald E. Preston, Richard Reed "Dick" Preston, Chauncey Albert Preston Jr, and Pauline Preston Hamt. She married Donald Eugen Crane. Florence's partner was Albert Paul Baugher, and they had children Deanna Ralston, Donald Douglas Baugher, and Franklin P Baugher. Florence Crane-Baugher died at age 84 years old in December 2004 at Hermitage, Mo.

    Pasadena, Calif., the daughter of C.H. and Frances Lilves Preston. She and her second husband, Donald Crane, worked for many years delivering for the L.A. Times newspaper and she was a homemake. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Sandra Baugher who live near Marshfield; a daughter and son-in-law, Deanna and Steve Ralston of state of Missouri; six brothers and one sister, all of whom live in California, J.R Preston, Jack Preston, Dick Preston, Robert Preston, Frank Preston, Ronald Preston and Pauline Hamt; as well as 10 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Donald Baugher; and both her husbands, Albert Paul Baugher and Donald Crane.

In 1920, in the year that Florence Vivian (Preston) Crane-Baugher was born, Italian born factory worker Nicola Sacco and fish peddler Bartolomeo Vanzetti were picked up by police on May 5th in connection with the April 15th murder and robbery of a guard and a paymaster at the Slater and Morrill Shoe Company in South Braintree, Mass. Although in later years they were thought to be innocent, they were anarchists and were convicted of the crime and put to death.

In 1938, when she was 18 years old, on June 25th (a Saturday) the Fair Labor Standards Act was signed into law by President Roosevelt (along with 120 other bills). The Act banned oppressive child labor, set the minimum hourly wage at 25 cents, and established the maximum workweek at 44 hours. It faced a lot of opposition and in fighting for it, Roosevelt said "Do not let any calamity-howling executive with an income of $1,000 a day, ...tell you...that a wage of $11 a week is going to have a disastrous effect on all American industry."
