She was adopted when she was a baby by Clarence Diamond Duke and Amanda Pearl (Boyd) Duke. She was raised in Mansfield Georgia and graduated from Mansfield High. She married George Lovic Kitchens and was the loving mother of 4 children. She was very intelligent and wrote beautiful poetry. She was active with church and senior citizens activities.
