Forrest Hobbick married Gwendolyn Wilma Hallgrem (1918 - 2003) and they had two daughters, Pamela and Linda, and two sons, David and Forrest Hobbick II.

In 1907, in the year that Forrest Hobbick was born, in October, over a 3 week period, the New York stock exchange fell almost 50% from the previous year's high mark. Public panic ensued and there were runs on banks since the U.S. was in the middle of a recession. J.P. Morgan offered his own fortune to back the banks and he was followed by other financiers. This temporarily shored up the banking system, stopping the immediate panic. All of this led to the creation of the Federal Reserve.

In 1917, at the age of only 10 years old, Forrest was alive when the NHL (National Hockey League) was established as a response to the demise of the National Hockey Association (NHA). The first superstar of the League was "Phantom" Joe Malone of the Montreal Canadiens, a leading scorer with records that still stand. The Canadiens won the NHL championship over the Senators.
