Frances Amelia Eubank was born October 14, 1911, in San Diego, California, the daughter of Stephen James Eubank and Dorthea Evelyn Rollins Eubank. In 1913 the family was living in Prince Rupert, British Columbia, Canada, where Frances Amelia's sister, Elsie Louise Eubank, was born. Two years later the family was living in Seattle, Washington, where Frances and Louise's brother, James Rollins Eubank, was born in 1915. By 1917 the family was living in Portland, Oregon, for a year or two, however, by 1919, Stephen James Eubank deserted his family and left his wife, Dorthea Evelyn, to raise her three children on her own. They moved to Bakersfield, California, in 1920, where they lived with Dorthea Evelyn's mother, Dortha Roxana Madsen Rollins McKinney, and three of her children from her second marriage to Joseph Thomas McKinney, including Dan Carroll McKinney, Thelma Josephine McKinney, and Gladys Violet McKinney. By 1924, Dorthea Evelyn Rollins Eubank moved to Los Angeles, where her son, James Rollins Eubank, was baptized in the Church of Latter-Day Saints, Adams Ward. Frances and her siblings had attended public schools in Bakersfield and Los Angeles, and by 1926, Frances was studying to be a cosmetologist. She was working as a beauty operator in a beauty shop in the 1930 census for Los Angeles, California. Frances Amelia Eubank married Halley Dale Smith, a farm boy from Kansas, in Yuma, Arizona, July 3, 1932. They made their home in Inglewood, California. Halley Dale Smith was born in Prairie Center, Kansas, May 28, 1910, and he and his family moved to Venice, California, in about 1924. Halley Dale Smith attended public schools and graduated from Venice High School in about 1928. He and his three brothers owned the Smith Bros. Garage on Lincoln Boulevard in Marina Del Rey. Later after the business was sold, Halley Dale Smith worked as a bus driver for the city of Los Angeles. Frances and Halley Dale had a daughter, Della Dale Smith, born June 27, 1951, in St. Francis Hospital in Lynwood, California. At the time they were living on Sunshine Avenue in Rural Whittier. They moved to the Santa Susanna area of the Simi Valley in about 1955, and lived there for a year with Frances Amelia's aunt, Thelma McKinney Riese and her husband, Stephan Ernst Riese, a noted geologist from Germany. In 1956, Frances, Halley and Della moved to Kagel Canyon in the San Fernando Valley, and lived around that area until 1968, when Della graduated from high school, and Halley Dale Smith retired from his job with Con Rock in Sun Valley, California. Frances and Halley Dale Smith moved to Wofford Heights, California, and Halley Dale Smith passed away there in September of 1976. After his death, Frances lived by herself and learned to drive and take care of herself. By in 1989 she suffered a heart attack while visiting her daughter, Della, who was living in Downey, California, at the time. Frances had triple-bypass surgery in 1990, and after that was not able to live by herself. She went to live with Della and her husband Daniel Hugo Pistelli, in Downey, in 1991. In 1992, Frances moved to Portland, Oregon, with her daughter and son-in-law, and they lived there for one year. Due to a job change for Della and Dan, Frances moved with them to the New York/New Jersey area, where they lived until Frances Amelia's death July 21, 1995, from congestive heart failure while staying at the Ocean County Hospital for some gastro distress. Eight years later, Frances Amelia's daughter, Della Dale Smith-Pistelli, took her mother's cremated remains to Wofford Heights and had them buried in her father's grave. Frances Amelia and Halley Dale Smith rest there under a beautiful pine tree overlooking the scenic Kern River and Lake Isabella in Kern County, about 65 miles north of Bakersfield, where Frances had lived in 1920. May they rest in peace! Love you, Mama and Daddy! Della Dale Smith-Pistelli, 5/2/2015
