Frank E D'Amato of Bakersfield, Kern County, CA was born on October 31, 1928 in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan United States to Grace Damato and Dominic Louis Damato. He had siblings Anna Valentino, James D'Amato, and Anthony D'Amato. He married Lila D'Amato and they later divorced. He had children Ruth Grace Rice, Michael D'Amato, Sandra Fowler, and Phyllis Chase. Frank D'Amato died at age 65 years old on December 30, 1993.

At the age of 16 snuck into the U.S. army passing for 18. Frank had promoted up to the rank of Sargent before leaving on a medical discharge. Later in the 60s Frank completed his Education by mail and obtained his High School diploma.

Raised Catholic Frank did not attend church but loved God and had accepted Jesus as his Lord and savior.

Frank became a very skilled Shoemaker able to orthopedic services. Owner of Frank's Cobbler's Bench in Bakersfield, CA.

Frank was a good Father to 4 Children. He was also passionate about both the Veterans of Foreign Wars, VFW. and The Disabled American Vets, DAV. He worked tirelessly as Post Commander. Started a New Chapter For Vietnam vet. Ran the membership drives and cooked for spaghetti dinners. Frank will also be their most beloved Santa Claus at Christmas.
