He was married to Dorothy Emma Mata in 1944 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, PA, and they were together until Francis' death on August 25, 2013 in Levittown, Bucks County. He had children Gail Theresa Ceccarrelli, Francis Lawrence Mata Jr., Warren Francis Mata, and Susan Emma Piras.
