Francis Carmody died at age 70 years old in 1962 in Glen Huntly, Victoria, and was buried at Cheltenham Memorial Park Wangara Rd, in Cheltenham, City of Bayside County, VIC.

CARMODY. - On April 12 ( suddenly) at his home, 4 MacGowan Avenue, Glen Huntly, Francis Michael, beloved husband of Eleanor, loving father of Kathleen and Ronald, beloved grandfather of Michael, Lorraine, Bernard, Francis, Therese and Kathleen Hurley, and Maree and Nell Carmody, and loving father-in-law of Lillian Carmody and Jim Hurley. Rest in peace.

In 1892, in the year that Francis Michael Carmody was born, on October 5th, the Dalton Gang was shot. The Gang was attempting to rob two banks - simultaneously - in Coffeyville Kansas but word spread of the robberies and townspeople with guns greeted them when they left the banks. Four members of the gang were killed - only Emmett Dalton survived his wounds and spent 14 years in prison.

It had previously taken 12 hours to assemble a whole vehicle - now it took only two hours and 30 minutes! Inspired by the production lines at flour mills, breweries, canneries and industrial bakeries, along with the disassembly of animal carcasses in Chicago’s meat-packing plants, Ford created moving belts for parts and the assembly line was born.
