He had siblings Charles Ferris Bidley Mcshanag, Lily Rita McShanag, Gerald Bernard Mcshanag, Leo Stanislaus Mcshanag, and Daniel Hastings Mcshanag. Francis McShanag married Violet Agnes Ablett in 1931, and died at age 64 years old on June 6, 1969 in Castlemaine.
