Gennarelli, Francis R. Binghamton: Francis R. Gennarelli, 76, died unexpectedly on The Feast of the Assumption, August 15, 2011 in Florence, Italy doing what he loved, traveling with friends and family. He was born in Binghamton on January 31, 1935 to Joseph P. Gennarelli, Sr. and Minnie (Carr) Gennarelli. He graduated from Binghamton North High School. He attended college at Keystone and Harper College, graduating from the latter in 1957. He was a member of the college baseball team as a pitcher. He proudly served in the US Army before being honorably discharged in 1961. He worked for the New York State Department of Taxation & Finance for 37 years until his retirement. He is survived by a brother, Joseph (Sonny) Gennarelli and his wife Joyce of Tampa, FL; nephews, Joe and Steven Gennarelli; sons, Fran and wife Julie of Croton-on Hudson, NY, Michael and his wife Janelle of Binghamton; grandchildren, Talia, Trevor, Matthew, Peter and Katherine. He is also survived by his dear friend, companion, and love of his life, Judy Delvillano; former wife, Gail, the mother of his two sons; several cousins. His beloved Dad and Mother along with his brother Sonny owned and operated Gennarelli's Florist for several years on Court Street. Beloved sports fans, members of the Binghamton Triplets, the Yankees farm team in the 50's and 60's could be found regularly at the flower shop. Fran loved baseball and loved his Yankees. He was a season ticket holder at Binghamton Mets games since they started playing in 1962. Fran was a lifelong member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church where he was an usher at 7:30 Mass for the last 50 years. Family and friends are invited to attend Visitation on Saturday, August 27, 2011, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the James V. DeMarco & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango Street, Port Dickinson, NY with a Memorial Mass to follow at 1:00 p.m. in St. Mary of the Assumption Church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to St. Mary of the Assumption Soup Kitchen, 15 Doubleday Street, Binghamton, NY 13901.
