John worked as a textile weaver at a Cloth Weaving Mill in Lackawanna, Pennsylvania, USA. He was also a veteran of World War II, having served in the European Theater for three and a half years. He enlisted in the United States Army on July 3, 1942, in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, during the war and he joined the Branch Immaterial - Warrant Officers of the Army. Frank John Fitt's life came to an end on October 28, 1957, at the age of 49 years old, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, and service. He was buried at St. Michael's Russian Orthodox Church 512 Summer St, in Old Forge, where he had spent most of his life.

His military serial number was 33347845, and he joined the Branch Immaterial - Warrant Officers of the Army. At the time of his enlistment, John Fitt held the rank of Private, Selectees (enlisted Men). His terms of enlistment were "For the Duration of the War or other emergency, plus six months, subject to the discretion of the President or otherwise according to law." This meant that he would serve for the duration of the war and six additional months, as determined by the President or the law.

Frank J. Fitt, 48, 3120 Park Ave., South Plainfield, N. J. a native of Old Forge, died yesterday morning in Veterans Hospital, Wilkes-Barre, after a brief illness. Son of the late Josephine and Frank Fitt, he resided most of his life in Old Forge. He moved to New Jersey four years ago. He was employed by the L, A. Dreyfus Co., Plainfleld. He was a World War II veteran and served in the European Theater three and a half years. He was a member of St. Michael's RC Church, Old Forge. Surviving are his wife, the former Sophia Stacknick; five brothers, Joseph Fitt, Old Forge; Henry and Walter, Old Forge; John, Dunmore, and Stanley. Detroit,- Mich.; three sisters, Mrs. Frank Serafin and Mrs. Frank Hydeck, Old Forge; Mrs. Edward Chludzinski, Detroit. The funeral will be held Thursday from the Mayurnick Funeral, Home, 127 Church St. Old Forge, with mass at, 9:30 a. m, in St. Michael's Church Interment, parish cemetery.
