Frantisek Dusek 1838 - 1923

Frantisek Dusek was born on March 17, 1838 in Cermna, Bohemia Czechloslovakia to Peregrin Dusek and Anna (Marek) Dusek, and had a sister Frantiska (Dusek) Kuzilek. He married Terezie (Faltus) Dusek in 1858, and they were married until Terezie's death on August 11, 1889. He had a child Leopold Dusek. Frantisek Dusek died at age 85 years old on July 14, 1923 in Wallis, Austin County, Texas United States, and was buried at SPJST Cemetery in Praha, Fayette County.

In 1838, in the year that Frantisek Dusek was born, on May 26th, the Native American Cherokee Nation was forced to march the Trail of Tears - relocating them to west of the Mississippi. When gold was discovered in Georgia in 1828, settlers wanted the Cherokee land. 16,543 natives were forced to march - it is estimated that 2,000 to 6,000 died along the way.

In 1856, by the time he was 18 years old, on January 26th the Battle of Seattle occurred. Marines from the ship the USS Decatur, stationed in Elliott Bay, along with about 50 Seattle settlers, fought Native Americans in the area. Territorial Governor Isaac Stevens had declared a "war of extermination" on Native communities 5 days before.
