Fred served in the Army Air Force. I'm not sure what years but I now he was in during 1943, he was stationed overseas and sent a letter home to his parents (which i have) containing a $5 dutch note. He mentions about being drafter in that letter.

Fred was a very close friend of my fathers and friend of the family for many years. I have allot of childhood memories of him teaching my brothers and i about the outdoors, plants and animals. In the letter that i mentioned for his military service there are pictures showing a women, a child, an older man and a similar aged man. I'm not sure who any of those people are. He is wearing a wedding ring in the pictures. I never knew him to speak of a wife or child though. I heard that he proposed but don't think he married (according to what i've heard). He does have a sister (name unknown) but believe she lives/lived in the Pittsburgh area. Unfortunately my father passed away ten years before Fred so some of the history/facts are gone.
