He married Margaret Taylor Drayton in 1881, and had children Catherine May Drayton, Ethel Elizabeth (Drayton) Searle, Frederick James Drayton, Alice Maude (Drayton) Trebilcock, Baxter William Drayton, Basil Thomas Drayton, and Margaret Taylor Drayton. Frederick Drayton died at age 68 years old on May 28, 1930 in Geelong.
