Frederick Sawyer Jr. was born in 1881 to Frederick Sawyer and Mary Ellen (Wilson) Sawyer, and had siblings James Sawyer, Ada Ellen Sawyer, Caroline (Sawyer) Hutchins, Elizabeth Mary (Sawyer) Di Donna, and Emily Louise Sawyer. He married Jessie Sawyer, and had a child Frederick George Sawyer. Frederick Sawyer died at age 27 years old on July 9, 1909 in Morwell, Latrobe City County, VIC Australia.

The Mornington and Dromana Standard, July 1909. The Morwell "Gazette" says :- The circumstances surrounding the death of Mr. Fred Sawyer, son of Mr. F. Sawyer, of Mornington, which took place at Morwell last Friday, has created a deep feeling of sympathy for his young wife in her sad bereavment. The deceased, who was a highly respected young man, had for the past two years suffered terribly with a cancer on his face, which the most skilled medical teatment could not combat. He endured the intense suffering with great fortitude and patience, and when the end was approaching welcomed it as a happy release. The remains were interred at the Hazelwood Cemetery on Saturday.
