William Frederick slade was executed by field general court martial in December 1917.
He was a member of 2/6th London regiment as was my Grandfather.
William was found guilty of deliberate disobedience when he refused to parade with his company before going up the line.
He had acted as a stretcher bearer at Bullecourt where the battalion lost a great many men
killed and wounded.
At his trial he stated that his experience at Bullecourt had "worked on my mind".
