I worked with Garnet L Myrell at Perry High School from fall of 1980 to spring of 1982. Her tenure at Perry High School would have been around 1975 until 1984. She moved to Florida and a former student told me that she had moved back to Perry.
She was an incredibly good physical education teacher and coached girl's softball. Her college education was paid for by athletic scholarships.
What I remember most about Sunny Myrell was her loving nature. She was a great pet owner, she took care of her mother, people in the community liked and respected her. Her stepfather had given her the name Sunny. Garnet Louise was her mother's name. Myrell was Sunny's stepfather's name. I don't know her original last name, but I'm thinking it might have been Baker?
I know she had an older sister and brother. The brother lived in California. She had also given birth to a daughter who she gave up for adoption. At the time in the seventies, there was a lot of discrimination to having an illegitimate child in addition to losing your job. I leave this message because her daughter may want confirmation that this is her birth mother. The daughter would have been born around 1977. This year is not accurate. I heard this story firsthand from Sunny.
