I am Gary's grandson, Gary. I did not make it to the funeral. Years later, when I had my own daughter, Haley, I was depressed and needing to close that chapter in my life. One day, my wife at the time and Haley were out and I was all alone. I felt something lift me off of the couch. It was not a dream because I never fall asleep playing XBOX. I heard a voice singing Rock a Bye Baby. I knew it was him. When it was time for "Down will come baby," he went BOOM and dropped me just like he did when I was a baby. When the song finished, I glided back to the sofa and I felt peace. That was his last gift to me.

I am his first Grandchild. He always loved me so much and he never saw me as anything but beautiful. He demanded respect and he gained it from all who knew him. The last time I saw him, he was sick. I didn't understand at the time. We watched Dances With Wolves together and I fell asleep in his arms. That is the memory that stands with me most. His is missed every single day.
