Gay Steele Gillespie of Parrottsville, Cocke County, Tennessee was born on February 18, 1894 in Parrottsville to Thomas Jefferson Gillespie and Sarah Ann Boyer Gillespie. He married Edith Grace (Mahan) Gillespie, and died at age 82 years old on April 8, 1976 in Parrottsville. Gay Gillespie was buried at Union Cemetery in Newport.
