George Adolphus Crowl of Box Hill, Whitehorse City County, VIC Australia was born in 1906 in Ballarat East, City of Ballarat County to Martha Jane Neill and George Adolphus Crowl. He had siblings Olive May Crowl, Ruby Lillian Crowl, Hugh Neil Crowl, Robert John Crowl, Madge Crowl, and Thelma Rose Crowe. George Crowl married Irie Gladys Amelia Morton in August 1929, and died at age 76 years old in 1982 in Box Hill, Whitehorse City County.

In 1906, in the year that George Adolphus Crowl was born, the great San Francisco earthquake hit, estimated at 7.8 on the Richter scale. The earthquake caused fires that raged for days and between the earthquake and the fire, about 3,000 people were killed and 80% of the City was destroyed.

In 1927, at the age of 21 years old, George was alive when aviator and media darling Charles Lindbergh, age 25, made the first successful solo TransAtlantic flight. "Lucky Lindy" took off from Long Island in New York and flew to Paris, covering  3,600 statute miles and flying for 33 1⁄2-hours. His plane "The Spirit of St. Louis" was a fabric-covered, single-seat, single-engine "Ryan NYP" high-wing monoplane designed by both Lindbergh and the manufacturer's chief engineer.
