    A memorial service for Sr. Master Sgt. George Dewey Hamrick Jr., 88, a Coal County resident, were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 31, 2009 at Brown's Funeral Service in Coalgate, Oklahoma with Bro. Arvel Hall officiating. Hamrick died Wednesday, October 28, 2009 in Coalgate, Oklahoma Born in Silverton, Texas on February 14, 1921, he was the son of George Dewey Hamrick Sr. and Bertha (Burson) Hamrick. A retired veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he served during World War II and Korean War. He was present at the landing of Omaha Beach and Normandy. After retiring from the Air Force, he opened an upholstery business in Olympia, Washington. He married Rosie Chambers in 1941, and later married Margaret Frances in 1949. Preceding him in death were his parents, George Dewey Hamrick Sr. and Bertha (Burson) Hamrick; two sisters, Lela Mae Findley and Shirley Mae Walton. Survivors include two sons, Dewey Dewayne Hamrick and wife, Debra, Roswell New Mexico; and Dewayne Joseph Hamrick, Tacoma, Washington; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; one brother, Ted Hamrick and wife Evelyn, Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey; one sister, Lois Maynard of Clarita; and other family members and friends. - Atoka County Times, Wednesday November 4, 2009.
