George Edward Turtle 1837 - 1895

George Edward Turtle was born in 1837 to Charles Batterson Turtle and Sarah (Squire) Turtle, and had a sister Bithiah (Turtle) Allen. He was the father of Martha Matilda (Turtle) Falconer. George Turtle died at age 57 years old on February 3, 1895 in Parramatta, NSW Australia.

In 1837, in the year that George Edward Turtle was born, on March 4th, Martin Van Buren was sworn in as the eighth President of the United States. Van Buren won 50.8% of the popular vote over election rival Harrison's 36.6%, largely due to Van Buren's promise to continue (previous) President Jackson's policies. But Van Buren only served one term because of the Panic of 1837 - which was due to Jackson's economic policy.
