    GEORGE BRODERSON 1918 - 2007 George Eugene Broderson, beloved husband of the late Leita Broderson, passed away peacefully in the presence of family, at the St. Michael's Health Centre in Lethbridge on Thursday, November 15, 2007 at the age of 89 years. George was born in Lethbridge on March 19, 1918, the oldest child of Frank and Emma Broderson. He attended Lone Star School in the Sundial District. George served in the Canadian Army from 1942 to 1946. After the war, he returned home to work on his fathers farm, which he eventually took over. He enjoyed curling, horseshoes, crib and fishing. George married Leita Westwong on October 15, 1956. They spent 39 years on the farm and retired to Taber in 1995. At the time of his passing he resided at the St. Michael's Health Centre. He was predeceased by his wife Leita in 2004, son-in-law Craig Benson, parents Frank and Emma, brothers Lloyd and Ervin, sister Irene Secrist and brothers-in-law Wayne Secrist and Richard Westwong. Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Sunday, November 18, 2007 between 4:00 P.M. and 5:00 P.M. The Funeral Service will be held at the Vauxhall Mennonite Brethren Church, 320 - 9 Street North, Vauxhall on Monday, November 19, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Frank Lewis officiating. A private family burial will follow at the Taber Memorial Garden. If friends so desire, memorial tributes in George's name may be made directly to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, #207, 542 - 7 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta T1J 2H1. excerpt taken in part from obituary -- Southland Funeral Chapel & Cremation Services website
