He married Susan Ellen Cutting Carpenter, and they had children Maria Emily Carpenter, Emma Louise Carpenter, Bert Edward Chri Carpenter, Jessy Gale Carpenter, and Ernest Richard Carpenter. He was the parent of George James John Alexander Carpenter. George Carpenter died at age 71 years old on September 20, 1906 in Coburg, City of Merri-bek County, VIC Australia.
