My Grandfather
George Pursell was my grandfather. He had a pleasant demeanor and charming Scottish brogue. He was often told he resembled Edward VIII, the Duke ofWindsor.
I remember my grandfather as being calm and quiet with impeccable manners. He was a teetotaler who once received a crate of whiskey from a relative in Scotland. Embarrassed, my grandparents stowed away the whiskey secretly in the cellar until they could give it away.
My grandfather was a very gentle person. As I was growing up he used to walk to my house elementary school and wait for me to come out of the building so we could walk home from home together.
George Pursell was a loyal upright citizen and a gentleman in all matters.
