On January 21st 1944 George enlisted in the United States military where he served until April 10th 1946. After leaving the military he lived with his family in Bridgeport Connecticut and then by 1983 was living in Alma Loma San Bernardino California where he lived until his death on November 10th 1992.

He was acquitted after three trials and the jury wrote a formal letter apologizing for the charges, but his career never recovered. His films were at first banned - the ban was lifted after a year - and he was mostly ostracized by the community. He died at 46..
