George S. Stirl 1937
George S. Stirl in 1937 as Daniel Boone, raising money for Roosevelt's Presidential campaign - in 1937. Of course, it's a Daniel Boone impersonator (George S. Stirl of Burkes County, PA) raising money for Franklin Roosevelt, not Washington, Adams, or Jefferson. Stirl traveled the country writing on sidewalks in chalk "long live President Roosevelt" and raised $10,000 this way. It says that he bought the chalk with money that he should have spent on food - he was an ardent supporter of Roosevelt.

Look at how he is dressed - it all looks authentic, including the coonskin cap!
