Roy' AUGUSTA, Ga. - Deacon George (Roy) Sharpton, Sr., 64, entered into rest Monday, November 9, 2009 at University Hospital. Funeral services will be held November 15, 2009 at 3 p.m. at True Vine Baptist Church, 1780 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. with Rev. Frederick L. Patterson officiating. Deacon Sharpton was born in Augusta, Ga. to James and Emma Sharpton. He was a retired Crew Lead from the Georgia National Gas Company. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Joyce Anne Sharpton; one daughter, Benetta (Lyman) Page, Savannah, Ga.; one son, George (Katrenda) Sharpton, Jr., Augusta, Ga.; one granddaughter, Nakia Page, Savannah, Ga.; three grandsons, Lamon Page, Landon Page, both of Savannah, Ga., George Sharpton III, Augusta, Ga.; one sister, Emma Sharpton; three brothers, Oscar Baxter, Bennie Lee Sharpton, Booker T. Sharpton, all of Augusta, Ga. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 14, to 6 to 7 p.m. at C.A. Reid Memorial Funeral Home, 314-A Laney Walker Blvd Ext., Augusta, GA 30901
