George Shibler, Sr. served as a Union Soldier in the Civil War. He was discharged due to a back injury. Two known marriages are known for George (my gg-grandfather), Charlotte Frankenburger, and Mariah Bailey. He had three children with Charlotte, a son, George and two daughters (Virginia, Mary Cecelia). Only Mary Cecelia survived. He had five sons with Mariah, Sherman William Shibler, Charles 'Albert' Shibler, George Washington Shibler, Jr., David Olie Shibler (my g-grandfather), Frank Shibler.
Frank the youngest was put on an Orphan Train and ended up at the Soldiers & Sailors Orphans Home in Xenia, Ohio. The other boys also were orphans, three became engineers (Sherman, George, David) who as children ended up on the streets due to being abused and used as child slave labor. David, my great grandfather was known to have many children out of wedlock as far as Canada. His maybe second wife, my great-grandmother, Melissa Bays was a Mormon, Church of the Latter Day Saints. My grandfather, William 'Big Bill' Clarence Shibler, was said to have destroyed the family bible. George Jr, went on to marry Lulu Belle Rawson a very devout and dedicated woman to her husband & children. Sherman, a steamboat engineer was blown to pieces in an accident on the Mississippi River near Kentucky. Charles 'Albert', eloped with his girlfriend whom as it was told to me the other brothers disapproved of, and it was believed he went to Michigan.
