In 1804, on December 2nd, Napoleon was crowned as Emperor of France. It was a spectacular ceremony - even the Pope attended - and Napoleon and Josephine's garments were expensive and lavish. Napoleon lifted the crown to his own head, effectively naming himself Emperor. After the actual coronation, street musicians and peddlers entertained the crowds in the streets.

In 1834, on March 28th, President Andrew Jackson was censured by the United States Congress, 26–20, due to his efforts to close The Second Bank of the United States - which eventually led to the Panic of 1837. The censure was expunged in 1837, after years of effort by Jackson supporters.
