George Aduddell died at age 74 years old on August 27, 1941 in Wellington, Collingsworth County, TX.

In 1867, in the year that George Thomas Aduddell was born, on January 8th, African-American men were given the right to vote in the District of Columbia when Congress overrode President Andrew Johnson's veto. This was the first place in the U.S. to give African Americans the right to vote.

In 1874, when he was merely 7 years old, on September 14th, the Battle of Liberty Place occurred in New Orleans - the capital of Louisiana. Some members of the previous Confederate Army assembled for the purpose of "driving the usurpers from power" and the Republican Governor - William P. Kellogg - was physically driven from his office. The former Confederates temporarily replaced him with (the former) Democratic Governor John McEnery. Federal forces arrived, put down the insurrection, and five days later the legally elected government was restored.
