He had siblings Gertrude Joyce (1916-1995) and Alice Mary Bettesworth- Dennings (1918-1995). He married Marianne Lillian Hess-Thompson-Bettesworth (1923-1997) on January 1, 1950 in Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan, USA. They had multiple children together including George William Jr who did not survive (1951-1951) and David Brian Bettesworth (1955-2013). He was a World War II Veteran of the United States Army. On February 22, 1991, George William Bettesworth passed away at the V.A. Hospital in Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan, USA.
