George Washington LaShure was born on September 8, 1905 in Hornell Steuben, New York, United States to parents Oties W Lashure and Hattie M Wiley. He had siblings Floyd, Elizabeth, and William LaShure. At the age of 35, he registered for the draft on October 16, 1940, in Hornell, New York, USA. George resided in Hornell, Steuben, New York abd was employed by the Erie Railroad at the time of his registration. George then enlisted in the Army on April 22, 1942, in Rochester, New York. He served until August 28, 1945, when he was honorably discharged. He married Mildred Margaret Beabout (1910–2002) on November 21, 1986 in New York, United States.
