He married Sondra Lee (Ballinger) Doty on June 27, 1959 in Bath, Steuben County, and they were married until Gerald's death on November 28, 2006. He had children Ann Marie (Doty) McNuss, Susan Leigh Doty, Margaret (Peggy) Hope (Doty) Stanley, and Janet Lynn (Doty) Hurd. Gerald Doty was buried in November 2006 at Prattsburgh Rural Cemetary in Prattsburgh.
