    SCOTIA, N.Y. Gertrude Rafter, of Scotia, died June 15, 2006 after a short illness. She was the second of three children to Stephen and Sadie Bonczyk. Mrs. Rafter was a graduate of St. Mary's School and Nott Terrace High School in Schenectady. She was predeceased by her parents; her sister, Marie Wathen; and brother, John Bonczyk. She worked at the General Electric Co., taught art at St. Mary's School, Schenectady Public Library, Visiting Nurse Service of Schenectady, Scotia Transportation Company, volunteered 22 years at Saratoga Performing Arts Center, a member of the Cotillion Ballroom Dance Group and a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Scotia. Gertrude is survived by her husband James; two daughters, Maureen Meyerhoff and Marie Quigg; their husband, Bill and Allen; her treasured grandchildren, Harman, Anna, Sarah and Mary. Also survived by nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church in Scotia Friday, June 23, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment, Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to Mount Loretto Nursing Home, 202 Swarthill Road, Amsterdam, NY 12010. Arrangements by the Leszczynski Funeral Home.
