Gladys (Stutley) Doussett of Eltham, Shire of Nillumbik County, VIC Australia was born on December 11, 1896 in Swan Hill, Swan Hill Rural City County to Alfred William Stutley and Esther Adelai Thomas Dousset. She had siblings Alice Beatrice Stutley, Alfred Joseph Murray Stutley, Olinda May Stutley Morgan, Ester Adelaide Stutley, Emily Stutley, and Edmund Charles Stutley. She married Ernest Pierre Dousset, and had children Ernest Alfred Dousset, Raymond Pierre Dousset, and Leon Emile Dousset. Gladys Doussett died at age 74 years old on October 12, 1971 in Eltham, Shire of Nillumbik County.

In 1896, in the year that Gladys Stutley Dousset was born, on August 17th, the first pedestrian v car fatality occurred in Great Britain. Bridget Driscoll, age 44, was walking with her family on the grounds of The Crystal Palace in London when she was hit by a car driven by Arthur James Edsall. Edsall claimed to be going 4.5 mph and Driscoll's death was ruled an "accidental death" after an inquest.
