  • Introduction

    Not sure who her parents were but I know she was born in Chowan County, NC. She was a devout Christian and as far back as I can remember she didn't miss many Sunday services. She married Christopher Felton and had 4 daughters Marie, Eva, Mary & Frances. She was separated from Christopher for many years but reunited and stayed married until his death. She had a wealth of knowledge and would often quote the bible. One of her favorite saying was "I've been through the fire, the flames and the flood and I'm still here. Her favorite scripture was Isaiah 40:31. She was a tough lady who endured much but never gave up. I spent every summer vacation leaving Philadelphia a few days after school ended and being with her in Norfolk. Family situations during that time were so much different. Spending time with Grandma Gladys her siblings and my grandfather's side of the family. We were a close knit bunch. She passed 13 years ago but it still seems like yesterday. I speak often about her even today. In all the years that I've been around her I have never heard her curse or speak ill of anyone.
