    THE PLAINS - Gloria J. Winner, 79, of The Plains, Ohio passed away Tuesday afternoon, November 15, 2005 at O'Bleness Memorial Hospital. The seventh of twelve children, she was born November 27, 1925 in Logan County, W.V. to Sarah Fannin and Lloyd Jackson Mitchem. After excelling in school, Gloria joined the WACS during WWII. It was during this time of service to the country, she met her husband Thomas A. Winner. Gloria and Tom settled in Athens County to raise their daughter Phyllis A. Morgan and William A. Winner. Gloria never met a stranger and was known for her kindness and generosity to everyone who knew her. Gloria is survived by her loving husband, Tom Winner; her daughter, Phyllis Morgan of South Carolina; her son, William (Cynthia) Winner of Athens; two sisters, Dorothy Linville of California and Frances Kraus of Wisconsin; nine grandchildren, Marianne Morgan of Texas, Don (Amy) Morgan, and Carolyn Haats, both of Washington, Michael (Sherri) Morgan of South Carolina, Tricia (Toby) Beliveau and Rick (Aldemar) Winner, both of North Carolina, Christopher Winner, John and Robert Elmore, all of Athens; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends including Sandy Fetty of North Carolina, and Roy, Lisa, Rachel and Blake Smith of McConnellsville. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers, Elmer, Allen, Lloyd Jackson Jr., Charles, James and Edward Mitchem; two sisters, Mildred Mitchem and Kathleen Walls; a sister-in-law, Kay Mitchem; a son-in-law, Don Morgan; and a beloved niece, Harriet Scott. Services will be Saturday at 11 AM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Rev. Mary Jo Yeakel officiating. Burial will be in Athens Memory Gardens.
