He married Julia Mogan Hosmer, and they had children Edward Hosmer, Michael Hosmer, Loretta Hosmer, Joan Catherine Hosmer Brown, Denise Hosmer McGrath, Suzanne Hosmer MCutcheon, and Marcia D Hosmer Larkin. Gordon Hosmer died at age 80 years old on June 18, 2003, and was buried at Mount Hope in Bangor, Penobscot County, ME.
