Originally airing as “The WSM Barn Dance”, the Opry (a local term for "opera") was dedicated to honoring country music and in its history has featured the biggest stars and acts in country music.

In 1936, when he was merely 11 years old, on November 2nd, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) debuted the world's first regular high-definition television service.
