Uncover new discoveries and connections today by sharing about people & moments from yesterday.
  • Introduction

Gregory is the brother of my Dad Joseph Angaiak. My uncle died serving his country in the US Army in 1966 in Vietnam. He was preceded by his father Bob Angaiak who died in 1949. He was raised by his mom Virginia Angaiak and aunts and uncles. The Angaiaks were nomadic Yupik Eskimos who seasonally migrated in the areas of the villages that are now known as Kipnuk and Tununak Alaska for subsistence food. They went to school in the village that they were at, but had to leave their family when they got into high school and attended a boarding school. After they each graduated High School, Gregory and his brothers Robert and Joseph joined the Alaska Army National Guard. Gregory was sent oversees and died while serving his country.
