For many years Gustave Carlson resided in Manchester CT, on Ashland st. Mr. Carlson was a familiar neighbor from the early '60s to the mid '90s. By September 1994 he had grown old and feeble. In March 1995, he was taken from his home to (IIRC) a VA hospital. As far as I know he remained in CT until his death in November 1998, and never retired to Florida. He was buried in the East Cemetery in Manchester. At the time of his death, I saw no biographical summary just a name listing. I understand, however, he was in the Navy during WWII, serving as a machinist's mate.
Mr. Carlson was predeceased by his wife, who was alcoholic. In the '60s she frequently walked to the Main Pub in Manchester. Mrs. Carlson passed away around 1974. There was another person in the house, a genial extrovert known to us simply as John, who died around March 1993.
