    HAMMER, GUY L. Funeral rites were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Dietz-Pittman Colonial Chapel for Guy L. Hammer of Rosalia, who died suddenly Monday morning, September 14, 1964, at his home. Interment was made in Blankenship Cemetery. Mr. Hammer, a son of John and Annie Hammer was born near Rosalia on May 10, 1893, and was married to Amanda Nelson at Manhattan on April 11, 1918. For the past 18 years he had operated a grocery business in Rosalia. Prior to that he at one time operated a service station at Rosalia with a brother. He was a member of the Rosalia board of education for 23 years and was an active worker in all civic projects in his community where he had spent all his life except 17 months spent in serving with the U.S. Army in World War I. He was a member of Capt. Edgar Dale Post No. 81 American Legion. He is survived by his wife, two brothers, Myrl of Topeka, and Lelo of Augusta, and one sister, Mrs. S. E. Anderson of Potwin. Mr. Hammer was a cousin of A. L. Hammer of Leon. Services were conducted by the Rev. Burl Allison, pastor of the Rosalia Methodist Church, Graydon R. Waldorf, soloist, was accompanied by Mrs. Amos Marsh at the organ. Casket bearers were Lloyd Gray and Wayne Clark, Leon; Leonard Conner, Cassoday, Karl James, Emporia; Knip Krehbiel and Loy Short. Honorary bearers were George Borger, Tom Ratliff, Alex Gull, Ivan A. Smith, Vernon Willhite, Oliver Pike, Bert Rector, C. L. Hagan, Gwynn Liggett, Ervin Voth, A. G. Bowers, Fred Flesher and Bill Liggett. Military rites were held at the graveside by Captain Edgar Dale Post No. 81, American Legion. A large crowd attended last rites for Mr. Hammer, despite the rainy weather. (El Dorado Times, September 17, 1964)
