Born in Armenia to Armenian parents, Hachig Sarafian immigrated to the United States in 1917. He filed for naturalization and by the time that he was in his mid 40s, he was naturalized. Hachig Sarafian, 30, married Azanive Giragosian (1901 - 1994) and they had four children: two daughters, Alice and Rosie, and two sons, Albert and Harry.

Hacheg was Caucasian, of Armenian heritage. Both of his parents had been born in Armenia.

A native of Armenia, and raised in Armenia, Hachig immigrated to the United States in 1917 and lived in Detroit, Michigan. He remained in the Detroit area for the rest of his life.

By the time that he was in his mid 40s, Hachig said that he had completed the third year of high school.

Hachig never served in the United States military.

In 1930, at age 35, Hachig was a laborer in an auto factory. A decade later, he was a "core maker". In 1942, he was working for the Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan.

On his World War II, registration, Hachig was described as 5 feet 4.75 inches tall and as weighing 165 pounds. He had brown eyes, brown hair, and a "light" complexion. Hachig married Azanive and they had four children: two daughters and two sons.
