Hannah (Sprague) Pixler was born on January 23, 1822. She married George French in 1842, and they were married until death separated them. They had children Harvey James French, William Henry French, Martha M. (French) Bollman, and Julia Agnes (French) Manuel. She married John Pixler in 1882. Hannah Pixler died at age 71 years old on September 10, 1893 in Iowa United States.

In 1822, in the year that Hannah (Sprague) Pixler was born, on May 26th, 116 people died in the Grue Church fire - the biggest fire disaster in Norway's history. On Pentecost, the church was packed and a fire broke out on the outer wall of the southern transept. Within 15 minutes, the whole church was on fire and it burned to the ground. Almost half of the dead were under 16 and the cause of the fire is still unknown.

In 1834, by the time she was merely 12 years old, on July 15th, the Spanish Inquisition - which began in the 15th century - was abolished by the royal decree of Isabella II. The last known person to be hung by the Inquisition was Cayetano Ripoll - in 1826 - who was a school teacher.
