My beloved grandad
Hans Peter known as Peter was a brilliant funny man with a great sense of humour,during ww2 he was sent to Egypt where his group were captured by germans and having made their escape scattered into the desert finally reaching safety after 2 weeks(a lieutenant in raf having joined at 14 when the fling core) he was very inventive and designed a machine to lead bullets into guns.later kilder I thing a German machine makers used one of hos guillotine design. After the war he worked in the packaging industry running his company amalgamated mining and trading known as AMT with a father and son(Vetch) his daughter,my mum,remembers a side car he built from wood and lare a wooden car. As a mechanical engineer he would work on all kinds of machines to make life easier he used to say it is due to man being essentially lazy that he invented things.he was an agnostic and questioned many things in life .said he'd never ride a horse as they don't have brakes!! Had a few paranormal experiences despite his sceptism. He adored his wife Mildred nee browning and put her on a pedestal, she had trained as a buyer living in dormitories at Cavendish house Cheltenham. He was never there to be a father figure to me as he said ,my dad died in raf accident when I was 5 and we came to live with my mums family including grandads mother in law in Cheltenham . A wise gentle and humorous man ,I miss his life's viewpoint and questioning.
