Harry Arthur Bode 1919 - 2011

Harry Arthur Bode was born on October 23, 1919 in New Brunswick, Middlesex County, New Jersey United States to Johanna (Pecera) Bode and Gabor Bode, and had siblings Margaret Jane Karcz, Magdalene (Bode) Setalo, Elizabeth Grace Konopacki, Julia Odette Bode, Aaron George Bode, and Julius Arthur Bode. He married Ruth Irene Bode in 1949 in New Brunswick, Middlesex County, and they were married until Ruth's death on January 16, 2004 in Dunellen. He had a child Sandra Anne Schwarz. Harry Bode died at age 91 years old on March 16, 2011 in Manahawkin, Ocean County, and was buried on March 21, 2011 in Somerville, Somerset County.

The 18th Amendment established Prohibition - a law against the production, transport, and sale of alcohol. Private consumption and possession were not prohibited. Several months later, the Volstead Act was passed, creating laws to enforce the Amendment. Bootlegging and bathtub gin followed.
