Add Memories, Stories & Photos about Harry

This is my favorite uncle who was killed along with his wife Buelah when a train struck the vehicle he was driving. My uncle was a retired superintendent of the accounting department at US Steel Corp. They had attended a Christmas dinner at a restaurant on US 20 and were traveling home. The crossing was unguarded and witnesses saw my uncle leave the line of cars waiting for the train and drive up on the tracks. After autopsy, it was discovered that his beloved wife had suffered a heart attack. It was assumed but not known that my uncle panicked in an attempt to get her to a hospital. I was coming back from a Christmas music convocation at Purdue University with my husband and friends. I had fallen asleep but woke up in time to see the emergency vehicles on the roadway below the interstate we were traveling on. I begged to go see what happened and was told I was a fire engine chaser...the desire was completely compelling for me. The next morning my mother called to inform me of there deaths and I knew immediately that was why I felt the need to be with them so strongly.

The best aunt and uncle ever. Uncle Harry always told me that I looked just like my Aunt when he met her. I will never forget you.
